Terms and conditions of driving tuition provided by
Derek Lawton ADI

It is agreed that:

  1. The instructor (Derek Lawton) shall make his services as a professional driving instructor available to the pupil for the sole purpose of giving driving tuition at the rate per lesson from time to time agreed.

 

  1. A lesson is equal to 60 minutes.

 

  1. All lessons must be paid for at the beginning of the lesson.

 

  1. The instructor will decide when the pupil is ready for taking their driving test, taking into account frequency of lessons and waiting times.

 

  1. The instructor reserves the right to refuse the use of the car, if it is felt that the pupil is not ready for the test.

 

  1. Driving tests take priority over lessons; therefore a lesson already booked may have to be changed if the instructor receives a short notice test.

 

  1. All lights will be checked on arrival at the test centre by the instructor and the candidate and therefore the instructor will not be liable for any failure of lights during any test. 

 

  1. The instructor shall carry motor insurance covering the pupil whilst driving the tuition vehicle when accompanied by the instructor or a Driving & Vehicles Standards Agency examiner.

 

9.       The instructor will make every effort to train you to the highest standard, but can in no way be held liable for any errors you commit whilst driving unaccompanied by your instructor, either before or after a test pass.

 

  1. In the event that the instructor is not available for any reason whatsoever for a specific appointment or in the event of mechanical breakdown or other cause, the instructor reserves the right to rearrange the lesson to a time convenient to both parties.

 

  1. The pupil must inform the instructor of any disability or any motoring offences that exist or occur during training (including private practice).

 

  1. The pupil also agrees to the Driving & Vehicles Standards Agency examiner bearing witness to any accident while on a driving test in the instructor’s tuition vehicle.

 

  1. Where a discount has been applied for a block payment of ten or more hours than any refund for remaining hours not taken will be subject to an administration fee of £25.

 

  1. Where a block of ten or more lessons has been paid in advance then these lessons must be used within 26 weeks of the date purchased unless otherwise agreed.

 

  1. Your personal information such as address and telephone numbers will only be kept for as long as necessary or required by law, and will not be passed on to any third party.

 

  1. Appropriate foot wear should be worn for driving. Open toe sandals and the like are not appropriate for driving.

 

  1. During the current Covid-19 pandemic the pupil MUST inform the instructor before the lesson if they have symptoms of Covid-19 or have been in contact with anyone who as symptoms or as had Covid-19 in the last two weeks.

 

  1. The pupil MUST ensure they have washed or sanitised their hand before a lesson.

 

  1. The instructor will ensure the controls have been sanitised with antibacterial wipes and or sprays before a lesson.

 

  1. The instructor will try to maintain good ventilation in the vehicle to help stop the spread of the virus.

 

  1. The instructor will try to avoid contact with the pupil or controls unless absolutely necessary in order to avoid an accident.
